Welcome to Adult Ministries

As Christian adults, we go through many phases in our lives—finishing up college, developing a career, starting and nurturing a family, becoming an “empty-nester,” retiring... All of these events, and so many others, are more bearable, meaningful and joy-filled when we do not have to walk them alone.

Wherever you are in life, there are opportunities here to continue moving along your spiritual pathway.

Sunday School Class a place where people and churches can be transformed

Adult Sunday School Classes

  • Together in Prayer

RM 205 hosted by Together in Prayer class

Contact:  Linda Palermo

8:30-9:30 an ongoing Bible study

Together in Prayer class studies a new lesson each week as members take turns bringing a devotional or a portion of a book that has spoken to them in a special way.  An example of a class study,  Jer 29:11 "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  No matter what occurs in our lives, disabled children, sick children, husband with a disease, loss of a cousin, God is still with us and still has a plan for our life.  This class style allows people to stop in and visit at any time not have to worry about entering the middle of a book or a study.

9:45 – 10:45am Fall study

When the ground shakes, and a poor nation’s economy is destroyed; when the waters rise, washing away a community’s hopes and dreams; when a child suffers neglect and abuse; when violence tears apart nations; where is God? If God is all powerful, and if each one of us is a beloved child of God, then how can God allow tragedy and suffering to infest his creation?
This study will help one find insight into the age-old question of how to understand the will of God. Chapters include  1. Why Do the Innocent Suffer?  2. Why Do My Prayers Go Unanswered? 3. Why Can't I See God's Will for My Life?  4. Why God's Love Prevails

RM 105 hosted by Hot Topics a Christian Perspective class

Contact Greg Pruitt

11:00 – 12:00noon Sept - Nov

Angels and demons are portrayed and discussed everywhere — from statues and paintings to poems and songs to the Internet. But are they understood correctly? With all the attention these beings receive, Christians are bound to get confused between what is often assumed to be “common knowledge” and how the Word of God actually portrays them. In this series, Dr. R.C. Sproul challenges many of the modern myths regarding these other-worldly beings by offering a biblical view of the spiritual realm. Chapters include  1 The Heavenly Choir,  2 The Heavenly Host, 3 Earthly Enforcers, 4 Angels as Ministers, 5 Angels as Messengers, 6 Angel Worship? 7 the Adversary, 8 the Angel of “Light”

Laugh Your Way to Grace: Reclaiming the Spiritual Power of Humor by Rev Susan Sparks

Laughter was honored by the ancients as a spiritual healing tool and celebrated by the world's great religions. So why aren't we laughing along the spiritual path today? What would happen if we did?
In this personal and funny look at humor as a spiritual practice, Rev. Susan Sparks--an ex-lawyer turned comedian and Baptist minister--presents a convincing case that the power of humor radiates far beyond punch lines. Laughter can help you: *Remove the fearful mask of a God who doesn't laugh * Debunk the myth that you don't deserve joy * *Find perspective when faced with adversity * Exercise forgiveness for yourself and others * Reclaim play as a spiritual practice * Heal--emotionally, physically and spiritually
*Keep your faith when God is silent * Live with elegance, beauty and generosity of spirit

Whatever your faith tradition--or if you have none at all--join this veteran of the punch line and the pulpit in reclaiming the forgotten humor legacy found in thousands of years of human spiritual history.

Cost of book $15, Scholarships Available
