Director of Discipleship and Outreach
The Director of Discipleship and Outreach is primarily responsible for expanding participation in adult small group ministry programs at First United Methodist Church. This includes tracking guests, new members, and incorporating them into the life of the church as well as connecting established participants to a small group or volunteer opportunity.  

Goal: Create and Support outreach activities that can connect the unchurched with church programs, to provide events designed to welcome full community participation, and offer programs that bring people into small groups..

1) Guest Connection - Reach out to guests, track guest participation, assist the Pastors with 1st Connection (a 3rd Sunday lunch/class @ noon for guests interested in membership or learning more about the Church), attend the New Member Dinners (held at the Parsonage every other month), and connect them to a small group &/or a volunteer responsibility. Currently we have small groups meeting on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings during the school year, and special events at various times of the week or weekends.

2) Established Members/Participants - Work with established members and participants to offer a connection to a small group and/or a volunteer opportunity.

3) Recruit, train, and empower leaders who can offer small group activities. Assist with curriculum or materials as needed.

4) As a part of the staff, staff meetings are essential. Those are held on Tuesdays from 1-3pm. The Director of Discipleship/Outreach will work with other staff on overall church events or programs and have a presence in worship. 

5) This job will require a passion for welcoming and meeting new people, a flexible schedule given the nature of the program times, an ability to effectively delegate and empower volunteers, and an ability to work independently.  

Work Day:  Full Time, with vacation, sick leave, & flextime when the schedule calls for extra hours
Requirements: A strong commitment to the Christian faith, United Methodist traditions, and Christian service, a passion for meeting new people, a flexible schedule, the ability to delegate and empower volunteers, the ability to work independently, proficiency with social media and computer skills. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Start Date: Aug 2014 is preferable

Family Ministry Assistant (Part Time)
Requirements:  A strong commitment to the Christian faith, United Methodist beliefs and traditions, and a passion for nurturing children in the faith. It requires a flexible schedule given the nature of the program times and a welcoming personality. Applicant must be reliable, be able to work independently, and have experience with children. This position requires careful adherence to our Safe Sanctuary guidelines and must be able to pass a Background Check. 

Responsibilites:  The Family Ministry Assistant is primarily responsible for the care and nurturing of the children (Infants through 3rd Grade) at First United Methodist Church. 
1)    SUN Greeting the parents in the Children’s Lobby, help them place their children in their particular class (infants up to 3rd grade).  While classes are in session, the Assistant Director can sit at the desk in the Children’s Wing to make schedules, rosters, or plan, etc. Greeting parents when they return and make sure all the children are safely picked up. Record attendance.
2)    Opening and closing (unlocking and re-locking) the Children/Adult wing on Sunday mornings
3)    As Needed make rosters for the teacher and Nursery Workers, record attendance weekly
4)    Wednesdays (fall and spring semesters only Oversee Volunteers for our Wednesday Connect Children’s activities (snack, homework, & mission activity) from 3:30-5:30. We take a Christmas break and a 3 month summer break)
5)    Mon/Tues (fall and spring semesters) Lead Chapel for our Pre-School from 9-11am The Pre-School is closed for holidays and for the summer.
6)    Weekly Serve as the Contact person when someone is unable to work or teach and arrange for subs when needed.  
7)    Respond to Requests for Child Care during the week. Schedule the Nursery Workers to accommodate that request
8)    As Needed Train new Nursery Workers or Teachers 
9)    Plan with Family Ministry Director to order supplies, curriculum, etc.

Work Day:  Part-Time an average of 16 hours a week (summers are less hours, the school year requires more)
Start Date: Immediately, no later than Sept 20th
Starting Salary: $700 per month ($8.400  annually) Even though the hours vary depending on the week, the salary will be the same reliable amount)
